Airbus 380: I Think I’ll Stay Away for Now
AP: Singapore Airlines’ A380 takes off. A Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 took off on a historic journey Thursday—the first commercial flight by the world’s largest jetliner, which boasts luxurious suites enclosed by sliding doors, double beds, a bar and the quietest interior of any plane.
Call me old-fashioned, but I’m not looking forward to flying on airplanes that take an hour to board and unload — and then stand waiting for luggage along with 600 other passengers.
Unless someone buys me one of those first-class seats, I mean suites, of course…
Could it be that if it was a Boeing and not an Airbus, or rather a US-built plane as opposed to a European one, the feelings would be entirely different? Am I the only one to find it funny how americans are having a hard time stomaching Airbus?
No, I don’t think so. For example, I much prefer the Airbus 320 to its Boeing competition. It’s a more comfortable plane because it’s slightly fatter abeam.
I like Singapore Airlines latest announcement about those double beds up in first. They have asked passengers to refrain from ‘joining the mile-high club’ because the private units are not sound-proofed. Now that was a design flaw ;)
Customer service faux pas: Ply people with good drinks and food, plus a double bed behind a closed door. And then tell them they may not do what people tend to do next in such situations…
Being an alien, and knowing the queues when you get into US airports, the thought of one of these things dumping hundreds of people infront of me is horrible. Did anyone watch John Cleese and his take on airlines. Amusing short video podcast at http://funkwarehouse.com/jcpods/john-cleese-podcast-17.mp4
Ugliest Airliner that I have ever seen. I would like to know it’s cruise mach number. Cannot be nearly as fast as a B747. Just look at all that drag from the wing and nose that looks like an oversize freight carrier. I have heard that it is very quiet though.
