Where next? Antarctica!

This is Eli:

Eli

He mailed us and asked:

“I spend quite a bit of time in the winter months (oct - feb) at
McMurdo Station in Antarctica and that time is completely blank in my
dopplr timeline. could you please at least add all the US Antarctic
locations (McMurdo Station, South Pole Station, and Palmer Station).

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! THANKS THANKS THANKS!”

So we added them to Dopplr!

DOPPLR: McMurdo Station

Hopefully he’ll invite some of the other intrepid McMurdo travellers…

McMurdo

Looking forward to seeing what tips they add…

  2. I hope you guys also added the non-US Antarctica stations: http://www.antarcticconnection.com/antarctic/stations/index.shtml

  3. There are definitely a few in there now, but a few missing as well. The authoritative source is COMNAP (Council of Managers of National Antarctic Programs), which collects information from Antarctic Treaty nations as part of their treaty obligations. See their list at http://www.comnap.aq/facilities

Note that this list does not include the (only) private semi-permanent camp on the continent, the airfield at Patriot Hills, which is operated by a tourism business.
